The Query Letter:

Dear [agent name],

I’m querying you today based on your interest the below pitch from #PitDark:

SABRINA + THESE WITCHES DON’T BURN

Libromancer Aurora’s ex-girlfriend brings new heartbreak and magical danger when she asks Aurora to help save her brother from a dark coven’s wicked leader. It’s not just Aurora’s heart on the line now. It’s her very life.

When sixteen-year-old libromancer and empath Aurora Franklin’s ex-girlfriend re-enters her life, Aurora hopes it’s to reconnect. Max, though, has returned for another reason: her older brother is in trouble with the most powerful coven in town, and Aurora’s the only witch she knows and trusts to help him. He’s in love with the coven leader’s daughter, and if they’re caught, he’ll die. Humans aren’t supposed to know witches exist, though. To help Max and her brother would endanger Aurora’s freedom – and possibly her life. Aurora knows this all too well, but desperately wants to prove herself to Max.

The coven leader hates Aurora’s family, and would love any excuse to utterly destroy them, by magick or mundane, for good. At least, that’s what Aurora thinks. In reality, the woman is obsessed with Aurora and her growing powers. Louette wants those powers for herself. They’d make her stronger than the Witch’s Council itself.

Book Witch is a 72,000 word contemporary young adult fantasy for fans of Truthwitch and These Witches Don’t Burn.

I, myself, am a bisexual witch. I’m also a member of The Great Lakes Association of Horror Writers and Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Mary Lynne Gibbs
